Frequently asked questions

How long does the process take?

It depends on the visa and where you apply. Gathering the documents may look simple, but it can sometimes take up to 6 months, and the decision time then depends on the consulate or the UGE. On the free call I'll give you a realistic timeline for your case.

Consulate, UGE or Mercurio/Immigration Office?

It depends on the visa and whether you're already in Spain legally. I know it can sound confusing, so here's a quick summary:

  • Consulate: to apply for your visa from your home country.
  • UGE: to apply for residence directly from Spain, if you entered legally. Many digital nomads choose this route.
  • Mercurio or Immigration Office (Extranjería): usually used for residence renewals or to apply for a long-term student stay from within Spain. It has specific requirements and not everyone is eligible.
Does your fee include government fees?

My fee covers my work. Official fees and sworn translations are separate, and I list them upfront so there are no surprises.

Do I need private health insurance?

In most cases, yes: the consulate requires it to grant your visa. Only in a few very specific situations may it not be mandatory. I'll confirm whether you need it in your case and, if so, help you get one that's valid for your application.

What happens if my visa is denied?

We go through the reasons together and look at your options. If you took out your health insurance through me, you can request a refund under its conditions.

Can I include my family?

Yes. In general, your partner and children can apply with you as dependants, although each visa has its own rules on who can join you. Tell me about your situation and I'll let you know who can be included.

Do I need to speak Spanish?

No. I work with you in English or Spanish throughout, and I coordinate any sworn translations you need.
